Between Two Worlds offers three unique endings, along with a variety of puzzles and hidden secrets to help you escape the museum where you're stuck in time. The first adventurous player to uncover the game’s ultimate true ending will earn a special reward from the developer (details below).

I started working on this game for a game jam in June 2023, mainly as a way to experiment with Construct 3's 3D features, which they added a while back. I’d never made a 3D game before, and since I know Construct really well, I thought it’d be a fun challenge. What started as a small experiment quickly grew into something more, and I realized I wanted to invest more time into it than the game jam deadline would allow.

At its core, the game is about exploring a mid-'90s art museum, but as players dig deeper, they’ll begin to discover that the reality of this world isn’t quite what it seems.

Overall, I’m really happy with how this game has turned out. It features voice acting (generated from text-to-speech but surprisingly good), unique artwork—some created by AI and some by me—multiple endings, and a few secrets that I doubt anyone will find (and yes, that’s a challenge). The game is pretty tough, and it'll probably take a few playthroughs to uncover everything it has to offer.

The competition I just thought would be a good way to get more folks to play. It's going to be a challenge to beat it and get the actual ending, so far nobody who played the game to test it as figured it out fully. All the clues are there, I'll be interested if anyone can do it.

With all my games I welcome any and all feedback and thank you for playing!

Hello i'm loving the game and how cryptic it is, i love finding all the endings and secrets of the games that i play so i couldn't say no to this

I did a stream for almost 4 hrs and im at a point that i need guidance

The painting "the last tuesday june 43" i guess the specific year is in the painting and it says "Happy **43" (without spoiling the number), so i have the year, month and i can find the day but what should be the date order?

DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY or M/D/YY  T_T

Any other tip will be appreciated also love to share my progress but im not sure if that would spoil some of the first puzzles

That's awesome, I'm watching you play it now and I subbed to your channel, very cool retro vibe with the way you up the stream I like it :)

So this one is a tad confusing, while you are looking for a date, you are only looking for the DD part of it :)

Thank you for playing also, was actually impressive that you basically one-shot the first ending, nobody who tested the game did that so really cool to see :)

Thank you i appreciate the help, i've been reading the notes and i'm gonna start seeing pyramids irl 😂

I think i found something important related to time, i guess is for the other zone of the game or im overthinking it 🤯

Haha I was walking at a park here in Korea and they started playing Debussy the piano song from the game and I sorta freaked out a little hahahaha, I heard that song in my dreams for months lol.

But again really awesome watching you play the game I'm happy you like it, if you like secret puzzles and figuring things out Nexify on my page is a much better and polished game, I won an award for that one, the demo has a secret nobody has found too, might be cool to play on your channel :)

Well cheers! Thank you again!

Hahaha it's a great piece of music, it would have been extra weird if it played while you were on a museum.

I played it a little a long time ago before i started doing streams, it will be good game to do on stream ;)

Oh man, yeah then I might have questioned my reality... lol

I've played for a good bit, think I understand how to slow time, got the first three numbers and the three ways to add time. Right now, where I feel stumped are the music and the maze. I don't really understand what the connection between the radio and the four pictures are (possibly to do with the brute force cutscene), and I have no idea what I can use the maze for. In all honesty, while the game can be very cryptic, I can say that every time I get a bit further it feels like I am starting to understand the game better.

Thank you so much for playing :D Really neat to hear folks experiences and honestly is the best part of this for me, so again thank you! A few hints for you.

1. Knowing how to add time is VERY important to completing the final ending to win the little competition, knowing how to add time is a must.

2. The maze is important, but not to completing the four numbers, but having knowledge of this could help at some point.

3, The BF ending only really only tells you that it is known that you BF the puzzle, it was just something funny I put in after a friend did that and beat the game that way :P

You're on the right track with the radio and the four pictures... maybe just check in on them more :)

Seriously thank you again for taking the time to write a message :) Very cool. If you get the forth number let me know would love to hear about it.

After finding the fourth number(thanks for the hint by the way, gave me a better understanding) and getting what I assume is the default ending, I decided to look elsewhere for hints. Right now, I think I am getting a little closer to understanding the family day code with the ai converting to 19, and I wonder if the earth code may have to deal with converting like family

Oh awesome :D You might be the first one to get the default ending :D Congratulations on that :)

So I can't give away too much, but what I can say is there are obvious things left to do in the museum after you complete this ending, think of everything you have had to do up to this point and then maybe expand on it. You honestly have half of what you need and I mentioned the other half. :)

After experimenting for a few days, I think I've come up with more questions than answers

  1. With the two plaques I don't have, I noticed one of the outlines was similar to the computer aesthetic, which makes me wonder if there is more to the computer than the code number and the Ashford easter egg
  2. With the Ashford easter egg, it emphasized running the maze after the numbers, so I assume that the maze would be after the numbers
  3. I don't understand the Last Tuesday June 43(I assume it has to do with 1943 and the possible family day alphabetic code)
  4. While experimenting with the game I went out of bounds in the hallway "The Start" shows, and found a note that I couldn't pick up. I assume that's a bug.
  5. It's sort of good to know that I have about half of what I need (I just have to figure out what that half I need is, and what half you mentioned)
(1 edit)

Hello, yeah I had a few people tell me that as well when playing as they were testing :P So here are some answers :D

1. Your assumption that there is more to be done/find in the computer area is correct :)

2. So I cant give away too much here, except, admiring the artwork is important to finding the maze, time is also important, also the code. One important hint to save you time, once you admire all the paintings except the two unavailable ones, check the black and white room for something that can save you time from doing this again, I know the admiration part is tedious, so there is something that can help once you do it one time fully.

3. This one is obtuse, think of a calendar and add a century to it... what date would that Tuesday fall on?

4. Yes 100% Construct will let you shimmy through walls in some spots, I never really 100% found a way to stop this :P but yeah those areas where it can be done are just bugs.

5. So if you have a twitter feel free to message me on there directly, or if there is a way on here and I can help a bit more, I don't want to give away too much over these posts.

For anyone playing here are a few hints:

Time is important, but you can get 1 of the 3 endings even if you run out of time, so it's not a 100% fail state, it's only a fail state for 2 of the 3 endings.

On the counter with the computer there is also a radio that you can turn on and off :)

If a painting has a glitched admiration meter, there is something else that needs to be done to check that painting off the list.

Played the game for a good while and got most of the way there but had to stop after I got the first 2 numbers and the false brute force cutscene and running out of time cutscene lol. Spent a good while tryna find what was next but none of it made sense to me, wasn’t sure what the admiration metre was meant to do and one of the notes mentioned music but I couldn’t find anything music related anywhere.

Not a fan of AI Art but you’re solo and wouldn’t be able to make this game without it so it’s not too bad, pretty cool game.

(1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much for that feedback :D I feel you about the AI art, the project originally just started as sorta just messing around then turned into this whole thing. A couple of the art pieces where my own, but it's 90% AI, I'd love to do all my own art in there but my style is sorta unique and I wanted a variety.

So I can give you a small hint and it's probably my fault for not making it more obvious. There is a radio on the same counter as the computer :) it's to the right of the desk, just turn that on and maybe something could happen. :D

Also, running out of time only locks you out of the final 3rd ending, you can still get one of the endings, there are also things built into the game if you are preceptive that can help with time... etc.

Thank you so much for playing though, it's really great to get feedback so I appreciate it!

Ahhh never noticed the radio, will give the game another try some time now I know the parts I do!

The game is free during the competition, the first person to beat the game and win the award will close the sale. If the game is still $0.00 just beat the game and get the final ending and you win :)
